Frequently Asked Question

  • Before your visit, you'll fill out a detailed medical history form so your therapist can review everything ahead of time. When you arrive, your session starts right on time in a private treatment room. We begin with a face-to-face conversation about what you're experiencing, your history, and your goals. From there, we do a full-body assessment, including how you move, breathe, and use your body day to day. You'll receive treatment during your first visit, and we'll build a clear plan together so you know what to expect going forward.

  • No. If you prefer to stay clothed, we can still learn a lot about your body. Just wear flexible, comfortable clothing like yoga pants or loose shorts. If you're comfortable with a pelvic floor exam, we can do one, but only at your pace and with your full consent. The pelvic floor muscles can be assessed externally, even through clothing, or internally. You're always in control of what happens, and we move at your speed.

  • We are an out-of-network practice. This means you pay at the time of your visit, and we provide a superbill you can submit to your insurance for potential reimbursement.

We chose this model so we can provide full-length, one-on-one sessions without the constraints that come with insurance-based care. Before your first visit, we recommend calling your insurance company and asking:

    • Do I have out-of-network physical therapy benefits?

    • What is my deductible?

    • What percentage is reimbursed after my deductible is met?

    • Is there a visit limit?

    • Do I need pre-authorization?

We also accept HSA and FSA cards.

Sakura Pelvic Health

Why This Practice Exists

Too many people accept pelvic health symptoms as something they just have to live with. Leaking after having kids gets written off as normal. Painful periods get ignored. Children with ongoing accidents get told they'll grow out of it. And people who did try pelvic floor therapy at a busy clinic and didn't get better walk away believing therapy doesn't work, when the real problem was that the care was too rushed to get to the root of what was going on.

Sakura Pelvic Health exists because this work deserves more time, more attention, and more thoroughness than most clinical settings can offer.

Every session here is one-on-one in a private treatment room with the same provider start to finish. Initial evaluations are 90 minutes. Follow-ups are 60 minutes. Nobody gets handed off to an aide or assistant. Nobody gets a generic exercise sheet and a pat on the back.

We look at your whole body, not just the area where you feel symptoms. How you breathe, how you move, how you sleep, what's going on with your stress and your nervous system, old injuries you may have forgotten about. Sometimes a client comes in for leaking and we find that an old ankle injury is part of what's contributing. That kind of connection only shows up when you take the time to look at the full picture.

The goal is never to keep you coming back forever. We want you to understand what's going on in your body, why it's happening, and what you can do about it. Our measure of success is a client who walks out the door feeling confident and capable of managing their own health.

How We Practice

Empowering your wellness journey with compassion and expertise.

Dr. Sarah Glesmann is wearing a dark green sweater and black pants, sitting on a stool with one leg crossed over the other against a plain white background.

Your body's story deserves to be heard — and honored.

I'm Dr. Sarah Glesmann, a board-certified pelvic health physical therapist helping people reclaim comfort, confidence, and control over their bodies.

Whether you're navigating pregnancy, postpartum recovery, pelvic pain, bladder or bowel concerns, perimenopause, or the physical demands of athletics, you deserve more than quick fixes or being told "it's normal." You deserve expert, compassionate care that treats you as a whole person, not just a set of symptoms.

I built Sakura Pelvic Health because I know what it's like to feel unheard in a healthcare system that rushes through appointments and leaves you with more questions than answers. My practice is different: full-hour, one-on-one sessions where we take the time to truly understand your body, your history, and your goals.

Two decades of specialized expertise: rooted in evidence, delivered with empathy.

I've spent over 20 years specializing in pelvic health, with training and clinical experience that spans some of the most respected institutions and communities in the field:

· Board-Certified Women's Health Clinical Specialist (WCS)with advanced training in pelvic floor rehabilitation

· Trained in New York City's specialized pelvic health clinics alongside faculty from the Herman & Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute, one of the gold standards in pelvic PT education

· Clinical mentor to physical therapy residents at the University of Pittsburgh, where I also lectured medical students on the critical role of pelvic floor therapy

·International educator, teaching pelvic health concepts to physical therapists in Japan and training midwives in Eritrea through the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) on pelvic muscle rehabilitation following fistula repair surgeries

I treat pregnancy and postpartum concerns, pelvic pain, bladder and bowel dysfunction, sexual health challenges, perimenopause and menopause transitions, pediatric pelvic health, male pelvic health, non-binary and gender transition care, and female athletes managing pelvic floor function.

Why Sakura?

The name "Sakura" comes from my six years living in Japan, where I fell in love with cherry blossoms (sakura in Japanese) and where the vision for this practice truly took shape.

Cherry blossoms represent renewal, beauty in transition, and the quiet strength of nature. That's what I want for every person who walks through my door.

Your body is changing, adapting, responding to life's demands. What you're experiencing isn't something you need to just accept or push through alone. With the right support and expert guidance, you can move through these transitions with clarity, confidence, and real relief.

Here's what I believe:

Your pelvic health impacts everything: your movement, your confidence, your intimacy, your daily comfort. It's not something you should have to manage alone, normalize, or just "push through."

Healing happens when you're given time, attention, and a plan that's built specifically for your body and your life. That's what you'll get here: hands-on, evidence-based care that empowers you to move forward with clarity and confidence.

If you're ready for care that actually listens, let's start your story.
