Trans and Non-Binary Care

A smiling woman wraps her arms around a young man, both sitting indoors by a window, with warm lighting.

At Sakura Pelvic Health, we provide affirming, individualized pelvic physical therapy for transgender, nonbinary, and gender-diverse individuals. You deserve care that respects who you are and supports how you want to feel in your body. We're located in St. Paul and welcome patients from across the Twin Cities, including Minneapolis, Roseville, Merriam Park, Mac-Groveland, Mendota Heights, Eagan, Edina, and surrounding communities.

Binding, packing, and tucking can sometimes place extra strain on the diaphragm, abdominal wall, and pelvic floor. Over time, this may contribute to:

  • Urinary or bowel incontinence

  • Constipation

  • Pain in the chest, abdomen, lower back, pelvis, or hips

  • Sexual discomfort or dysfunction

We can help by looking at how your posture, breathing, core coordination, and mobility are all working together, and building a plan to reduce pain or tension and support better function.

Support Before and After Gender-Affirming Surgery

If you're planning or recovering from gender-affirming surgery, pelvic floor physical therapy can make a real difference in how your body heals.

Before surgery, we do a thorough assessment to identify and address any existing pelvic floor concerns that could affect your recovery. We also teach gentle exercises you can continue after surgery to support comfort and function during healing.

After surgery, we help you restore pelvic floor muscle function and manage common side effects related to bowel, bladder, or sexual health. That includes scar mobilization, lymphatic drainage for swelling, and gentle manual therapy. We work with you at your pace to help your body heal and move comfortably.
